[row] [col span="6" span__sm="12"] What if you can walk without walking? Here on Fit2B we provide around 300 diastasis-aware home workout videos, and today we are offering this free walking meditation. It's a great way to take yourself for a walk when you can't get outside. But how does it work? When I was on a track and field team in high school, our coaches had us practice visualization to improve our athletic performance. Before big meets, we'd lay in the grass, and they'd guide us through visualizing our technique. I was a shot-putter, so I would sit and imagine everything about my event: my warm-up, my approach, the feel of the metal ball against my cheek, my spin, and the thrust of my arm. I remember peeking at the other athletes, noticing them twitch as they visualized their events. I also remember how many seemed to approach their events with more calmness, and they proceeded to perform better. For this walking meditation:

Find a place to recline on your bed or couch. Press play and get comfortable while the introduction to the track plays. Then let my voice guide you on a "pretend" walk. You will visualize how your body moves while walking, practice your alignment in your mind, and imagine the terrain around you. You're going to feel so relaxed while your muscles get some good stimulation! [row] [col span="6" span__sm="12"] [ux_image id="305838" link="fit2b.us/shop"] [/col] [col span="6" span__sm="12"]

Meditation is mental and physical.

People love our TummySafe workout videos here on Fit2B. However, slowing down to think, visualizing your favorite walking location, imagining how it looks and feels as you walk through it is all very centering, calming, and grounding. While exercise normally looks like physical motion, I've seen multiple studies proving how building muscle and improving your body is also very mental. If you visualize good squat form before you do a squat, you'll probably do that squat better. If you do this relaxing walking meditation while lying down this week, you'll walk stronger next week. If you went for a real walk later, did anything "stick" from the audio visualization?
