Show Notes

I have always thought that mothers who give birth prematurely are given just as good care as their babies while they're both recovering after delivery. I was wrong. I am grateful that preemie babies receive such excellent neonatal care in my country (for the most part) but — the world over — we have a long ways to go when it comes to caring for the ones whose bodies have labored and now must be awake countless hours, days, even weeks while helping nurses keep their wee ones alive. Kara Coffin is a CPT, Perinatal Fitness Specialist, and Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach who has experienced premature birth, and she has some words of wisdom for everyone. Because no one ever plans on a premature birth, but we all need to be ready. How can we prepare ourselves as pregnant women? How can we support women who have a preemie? What is involved in her postnatal recovery? How can we improve premature birth for mothers?
